RISMedia's Real Estate CEO Exchange: A Forwar Collectively Moving Forward L ast month's Real Estate CEO Exchange accomplished exact- ly what we at RISMedia set out to do: bring together a great cross section of the industry's leading minds to candidly assess where we stand now and brainstorm the best way to move successfully forward. The CEO Exchange yielded an honest discussion of where the industry stands now, what the greatest obstacles to recovery are, and the best strategies for making 2013 a break-out year. Please see our CEO Exchange recap story from contribut- ing editor Barbara Pronin, beginning on page 24. In the meantime, I'd like to highlight what I believe are among the most important takeaways from the event: A gradual recovery is better than a fast one, and the return to a balanced market is critical for real estate professionals and consumers alike. It is ALL about the consumer, and keeping up with their changing habits, demands and mindset is essential to success. The global real estate market is becoming increas- ingly important, no matter what part of the country you do business in. Remaining relevant means understanding your market on a whole new, granular level. Watch closely for imminent legislation regarding QM, QRM and Basel III—it stands to drastically change the way you do business. To all the real estate leaders who contributed their precious time and invaluable insights during the CEO Exchange, we extend our deepest appreciation. One of those leaders, Dan Steward from Pillar To Post, is the focus of this month's cover story (page 58). Dan details not only the Pillar To Post journey, but the evolution of the inspection industry. Thanks to our sponsors and the efforts of all those in attendance at the CEO Exchange, we are all able to work toward greater success, not only for our respective firms, but for the real estate consumers we work so hard for. After all, that's why we got into this business in the first place. Wishing you continued success, Home Inspections Then an Dan Insp John E. Featherston CEO & Publisher
